New Executive Director of DPS’s FACE

Salvador Carrera is the new Executive Director for Multicultural Outreach for Denver Public Schools(DPS)’s Family and Community Engagement Office (FACE). In this role, he is responsible for bridging communication gaps for non-English-speaking parents. Also, he oversees the Board of Education’s District Accountability Committee (DAC) and inquiry initiatives and multicultural outreach. Carrera will continue being in charge of EDUCA platforms, innovative TV and Radio programs and a newsmagazine that covers education as well as immigration and family integration issues, among other topics. 

This executive is also the host of DPS’s EDUCA TV and radio shows. A University of California, Santa Barbara graduate, Carrera currently serves on the board of the Denver Hispanic Chamber Foundation and several advisory committees. He frequently speaks at CU Boulder’s Pre-Collegiate Developmental Program. His career includes teaching English as a second language, researching 22 U.S. markets for Entravision Communications and local/national sales for Univision affiliates.


Arvada and Centennial are on the rise

According to the the ranking of 2018’s Best Midsized Cities for Business Meetings by RewardExpert, Arvada and Centennial are among the top ten attractive cities to hold meetings. These two cities of the Denver Metro area are ideal places for meetings and conventions that are budget-friendly and also provide the same level of enjoyment offered by more expensive cities. Arvada reached the second place on the ranking; meanwhile Centennial got the fifth position. 

Arvada reached the second place on the ranking. This city boasts of having a lot of restaurants, nearby shopping places, performing arts theatre and entertainment centers. The city ranks the seventh for the number of events listed on Eventbrite, seventh for the number of restaurants, bars and hotels listed on Yelp, and fifth for commute time and convenience. On the other hand, Centennial offers a variety of shops, boutiques and restaurants. It is also famous for having rich outdoor activities such as skiing and golf.
