Three Latinas will be part of the Denver City Council beginning on July 1st. The first one is Amanda Sandoval, who will serve for District 1. Sandoval is the legislative liaison and outreach program coordinator for the Denver Fire Department. This new Councilwoman voiced her commitment to the construction of affordable homes in her district.
Jamie Torres, who occupies the seat for District 3, is the Director of the Office of Immigrant and Refugee Affairs. Torres wants to focus on creating opportunities for residents in her district to continue to live there. And Candi CdeBaca will be the councilman of District 9. She led the fight against CDOT’s I-70 expansion and runs Project Voyce, an organization dedicated to engaging kids in civic life.
