Learn how to eat to rejuvenate

DR. SAMAR YORDE TELLS YOU HOW

Newsroom/CASA Magazine

Samar Yorde is a successful writer in the area of nutrition and healthy eating. She also shares her advice with more than one million six hundred thousand people who follow her on social media, with her movement “Soy Saludable” (I am healthy). Her success didn’t come by coincidence. She is a medical doctor, specialist in obesity issues. In her third book “Rejuvenate in the Kitchen”, she presents recipes that improve health because they help to control anxiety, stabilize sleep and lose weight,” explained the expert.

Yorde’s books serve an additional purpose. She wants her readers to understand how the way we eat can help us delay the process of aging. “At age of 26, the process of aging begins for humans. This process becomes more noticeable at 40… We can slow down this process by eating more vegetables and fruits, that are rich in antioxidants. These antioxidants are the ones that eliminate free radicals, which cause aging,” she explained.

Antioxidant vs. free radicals

Dr. Yorde went farther in her explanation. Free radicals are produced by the body to perform certain functions. “These are unstable molecules that inflame us and attack and kill our cells. Cells are our main center of energy,” she explained. Free radicals take the electron they are missing from the collagen on the skin. As a result, our skin loses elasticity and looks dry and wrinkled. “That is the reason why there are young people who look older than their age,” she added.

Antioxidants are the only ones that can stop the advance of the free radicals. “We need to go back to nature. We must break our attraction to processed food and refined flour. We must ditch the chips, sweets and fried food. We also must be careful with fast food that in the long run will affect our health.

Half of our plate must be filled with fresh vegetables and fruits. Also, those fresh vegetables and fruits must be of varied colors, because each of them has a different function and gives specific vitamins and antioxidants.
