The National Science Foundation has awarded the Community College of Aurora (CCA) a three-year, $1.5 million Louis Stokes B2B Alliances for Minority Participation grant. The project will be led by CCA and will establish the Metro Denver STEM Alliance. It is a partnership among CCA and the four other community colleges serving the metro Denver area: Arapahoe Community College, the Community College of Denver, Front Range Community College, and Red Rocks Community College.
The Metro Denver STEM Alliance will increase the number of underrepresented minority students enrolling in STEM programs at two-year institutions. By using funds of this grant, CCA students would transfer to four-year STEM baccalaureate programs, and ultimately embark on successful STEM careers. For example, a number of these community college students can apply for transferring to a four-year engineering at CU Boulder. CCA already signed a partnership with CU Boulder.
